January truck sales going up year after year

The retail sales of truck for January Class 8 of about 14,119 increased by more than fifty percent from 9,236 in the last year. These figures were given by Ward’s Communications. The sales of Class 7 didn’t increase drastically but it was up by 14 percent to about 3,568 as compared to about 3,124 one year ago. Sales of Class 6 increased by 19 percent from about 2,524 to around 3,004.
For Class 8, the Daimler Trucks in North America had biggest market share, with sales of 4,754 Freightliners & Western Stars for about 34%. There Paccar at second place with sales of 4,026 Kenworths & Peterbilts (split evenly between 2 name plates), with share of 29%. International has sold 3,376 of the Class 8 automobiles for around 24 percent pie piece, and Volvo has sold around 1,961 Mack & Volvo automobiles for 14 percent.
For Class 7, Daimler was on top along with around 1,331 for share of 37 percent and International was closely behind at about 1,274 & 36 percent. Sales of Paccar were 576 of Class 7 automobiles, majority Peterbilt, for about 16 percent. Sales of Volvo were 16 units of UD branded trucks.
For Class 6, Daimler was leading along with 1,325 sales for 44 percent and International followed this by at around 1201 for 40 percent. Paccar was at around 126 for 4 percent. Volvo had sold about 12 units of UD trucks.
For Class 5, Ford won with about 1,994 units, 60 percent of 3,328 automobiles sold in month of January. Sales of Chrysler were 885 along with the Ram/Dodge brand, for about 27 percent and International followed this by at around 257 (8 percent), Isuzu at about 156 (5 percent), Daimler at about 32 and UD/Volvo at around 4 units.
