As a blog writer, I get a ton of emails asking about concept cars. There are people who ask me how come I can’t buy those ones? Now you can buy them. But there aren’t too much of them and they aren’t cheap either. But you do you get to see them once in a while; those glittering concept cars show up and they are offered for sale. It is time to grab the checkbooks now.
This truck that is shown in the picture was centerpiece of Ford display at 2001 Chicago Auto Show. It is called F-150 Lightning Rod and it employs the same formula of SVT lighting along with more styling. The roofline is chopped and the windshield is raked. The interior is minimalist and head and tail neon lights are flush fitted. Entire package has a metallic red finish along with tribal tattoo motif. SOHC V8 5.4-liter under this hood is coupled with 4 speed automatic. The aluminum 21 incher wheels have tires with tread that is cut to match pattern of the tattoo.
The concept truck shown here is quite unique and will be fetching about $50,000 after it crosses block at RM Auctions event at Arizona in the next week. Right now, it is in good working condition but isn’t certified for driving in public.
